Michigan Report Reviews Child Care and Early Learning Access
MiLEAP highlights affordability, early learning and the workforce supporting families.

MiLEAP released an October 14 update on its Office of Early Education Vision and Impact Report. The report addresses child care costs, access to early learning, the early childhood workforce and connections between families and support services.
For working parents, child care is part of the employment equation. A position’s schedule can be difficult to sustain if care is unavailable at the beginning or end of a shift. Employers also benefit from understanding the scheduling realities that applicants face.
A statewide report does not establish that a particular provider has an opening or that a family qualifies for assistance. Those questions require direct confirmation through the relevant provider or program.
What readers can do next
Before accepting a schedule change, compare the actual shift with provider hours, travel time and backup arrangements. Ask providers about availability and application steps. Employers can make recruitment more practical by giving candidates accurate information about shifts and scheduling expectations.
